Founded by Michael Mabogoane, a descendant of the Mabogoane Clan and grandson of Mr. Johannes Mampshe Mabogoane—a miner who worked for JCI at Phoenix Colliery in Witbank—Babenakwena Mining proudly carries forward a generational legacy in South Africa’s coal sector.

Our Core Services
Comprehensive Mining and Supply Solutions
Mining Operations Support
Load and haul (contract mining) — small-scale contractors providing trucks, shovels and ancillary equipment. Operators and other core and non-core employees are sourced from directly affected parties and stakeholders, including local communities.
Surface drilling and blasting services.
Mine rehabilitation and reclamation — backfilling, vegetation, slope stabilisation and fertilising.
Exploration services — geological surveys, sampling, core logging, mapping and resource estimation.
Engineering & Technical Services
Plant fabrication, construction monitoring and maintenance — pumps, conveyors, conveyor structures, crushers, mineral sizers with final product conveyors in a form of slew conveyors.
Electrical and instrumentation installation — cabling, testing and maintenance.
Mechanical workshops — welding, machining, hydraulic systems and assembling of key electrical motors and components.
Civil works — design roads, foundations, pipelines, concrete work and compaction in line with the DMPR and South African Road Act.
Surveying and mapping — drones, LIDAR, GIS and 3-D models.
Procurement & Logistics Services
Transport and haulage — materials, mainly coal in the coal sector.
Warehousing and inventory management.
Supply of consumables — PPE, lubricants, tools, cleaning chemicals, fuel and lubricants.
Offtake Opportunity
We Are Looking for an Offtaker for Babenakwena Coal Mining
Reliable Supply for Your Energy Needs
Babenakwena Mining invites prospective buyers to enter into a coal offtake agreement, preferably for the next 48 months.
30 000 metric tons
Per month, with the potential to capacitate the resource to produce 40 000 metric tons per month, dependent on client demand
FOT or Delivered
Off-take is subject to FOT and/or delivered coal on the client's request

- Achievable on a selective mining principle
- Washed product
- Saleable tons should be based on the nameplate of the DMS plant rates
- Desktop study shows that between 1.60 – 1.65 RD, reserve yields between 60 – 80% yield for an RB2 product

- Our financial instruments are driven by the API4 index at the terminal of trade

Procedure
- Letter of IntentBuyer sends an LOI which explains what they are looking for and details of intent.
- NCNDAEither party can issue a Non-Circumvention Non-Disclosure Agreement. This is meant to protect mainly intermediaries involved in the deal. Must be signed by both buyer and seller.
- Soft Corporate OfferBuyers request pricing, specifications and quantity, e.g. calorific value, ash, moisture and content.
- Corporate OfferSeller issues a formal offer detailing the commodity, specs, origin, prices and delivery terms.
- Offer to PurchaseBuyer issues an Offer to Purchase, including payment instruments.
- Deal ClosureDeal is signed into effect.
